Why do I do this work?

Today is a good day to share why I do the work I do: it's my wedding anniversary.

I have spent many years extracting myself from acute, extended post-separation abuse and institutional violence — an experience that was exhausting, depleting, and isolating. It was an experience I didn't know if I would survive. It stretched me, and I mapped out the terrain along the way.

I created The Mother Corp. to combine my professional and lived expertise. During those years of acute battery, my training and career in research, data gathering, management, community-based research, and community-led solutions worked in my favour to get to increased safety.

My dream, and the reason I started The Mother Corp., is so that no one is navigating extended trauma alone. I am committed to providing trauma-informed, compassionate support that empowers reclaiming your precious life.

This is the service I wish I'd had when going through extended violence. It started by offering help to others going through immense hardship. Over time, I formed a community networked by profound love, and this community encouraged me to create this business.

Not everyone can go to a non-profit. Some can't take time off work or parenting. Some can't put their names or faces to the experiences they are grappling with. Some are our professionals.  Trauma and grieving does not have class boundaries.

As a coach, navigator, guide, advocate, and ally, I understand the subtle nuances of trauma and grieving. Luckily, I love theory, and my work is evidence-based.   In my journey, I profoundly learned about meaningful accompaniment, processing trauma, trauma recovery and sacred grieving.

This is my labour of love.

Please feel free to reach out. I would be honoured to accompany you.

My clients reiterate my intention:

"Chavisa is a Trauma Guide. The process is gentle, calming, and soothing and feels like a ball of love washing over your body."

Workers experiencing trauma are a part of our workforce, and, as such, trauma impacts workplaces.

As a Trauma-Informed Consultant, I support professionals in enhancing their communication and leadership skills. I work with individuals and organizations to create empathetic, compassionate, and effective workplaces through a trauma-informed lens.

With a master's degree in social sciences and a graduate diploma in adult education, I bring a deep understanding of the complexities involved in emotionally, mentally, financially, and spiritually draining situations. My services are evidence-based.

My expertise extends to Divorce Coaching and Trauma Recovery certifications, allowing me to deliver tailored, holistic, and comprehensive solutions to my clients. I draw from seven years of experience working with people going through traumatic, high-conflict divorces and helping individuals overcome gender-based violence and hidden abuse, providing a safe and empowering space to heal and recover from trauma.  As a holistic practitioner, I am also training in Reiki energy work.
